Field of expertise: Nikolay is a leading Russian specialist in the field of international conflicts at the post-Soviet space. He is an expert on the issues of demographic, economic, and legal-administrative aspects of integration in the North Caucasus. He specializes on the Russian foreign policy towards CIS states.
Work experience: Nikolai is a Senior Research Fellow at the Center for the Caucasus Problems and Regional Security and Senior Research Fellow at the Laboratory of International Trends Analysis at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations. Previously he was an editor at the Policy Department at the Russian policy journals "Expert" (1999-2001) and "Profile" (2002-2004). He is a co-author of the collective volume "Contours of Disturbing Future: Russia and the World in 2020" and an annual forecast "International Trends".
